Doll Toaster/Oven Cover Finished!!!

It is now on it’s way back to California with the sister. It was hard to see them both go.  I think she came out very well for not knowing what I did the first time.  You will be glad to know I kept notes this time.

Big Sister 2’s Doll Toaster/Oven Cover

My big sister #2 came for a visit from central California. That means I had to finish her toaster/oven cover. Below is the skirt; head/bodice and the yarn for the hair.

Here are the components all sew together. Yikes, no hair. Hair came the next day. Come back and see the finished cover. She’s a doll.   No pun intended.

Scrappy Pincushion Swap Completed!!

I just couldn’t resist. I had to add the beaded Spider. Isn’t she cute? I hope my partner isn’t afraid of her. She’s a White Widow and is very, very nice. LOL

Scrappy Pincushion Swap Round 3 continued

The next step on the Heart Pincushion was to add a beaded lace edge. After one row I just couldn’t stop so I added a second row. Then the 3D fabric flower that I was planning.   I was having so much fun that I made one for myself and created Double Trouble!!! This is still not the final. More fun to come!!!!

Scrappy Pincushion Swap

Recently my friend, Alexa and I joined a Pincushion swap on Flickr and that deadline is coming up. So I put the purse, the quilt and the tea cozy aside to design and make the pincushion. I again decided to use dark blue because pink looks so good on it. Everyone that knows me knows this. LOL. I started with a basic heart.  It is fully interfaced and is made with a piece of my hand dyed fabric.
I always sew stuffed objects that will have a small seam allowance before I cut it out. The cross marks are where I will leave it un-sewn to turn and stuff. It was at this point that I decided maybe the heart needed a pleat or dart like the purse to add dimension. Oh, Oh, the heart was already sewn and cut out. What to do? So I made one of muslin. The dart didn’t work but the pleat did. I un-sewed the heart only where I had made the pleat on the muslin heart and re-sewed it.

Now here is the tease that I posted on Flickr for my partner. She doesn’t know who has her name and I don’t know who has mine. Here is a link to this swap group:

New Purse Under Construction

After visiting a friend that was making purses, I got the bug to design my own. So I looked on the web for pictures of what kind of purses are being made now. Then went to my design program and came up with this purse. It is yet unnamed. Any suggestions?
This is as far as I’ve gotten on the purse. I started thinking about the lining and what kind of pockets I wanted. Was I going to put my cell phone in the purse or carry it outside the purse in a caddy? Caddy won out. I then stopped working on the purse to design the caddy.
Here is the caddy closed. See that stripe in the middle of the flap.  I made the flap too short and had to punt.  Then had to remake the outside flap. As you can see I still need to add a snap to keep it closed and bind it. I also have to think of how to attach it to the purse. I would like to make it re-moveable but not have it fall off the purse.
