Here is the hoard of gifts I received from my swap partner, Dee. We had agreed to do a pillow case instead of a bag and I love mine. It has tiny little Santa's everywhere. These sat under my tree teasing me everyday until I opened them on Christmas morning. I almost opened one or two early but stopped myself every time.<br />
<br />
Then on Christmas morning I began opening them and watched all the colorful surprises come forth.<br />
I can't wait to share them with you all. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKmqV0xtzzmefv-lPFt1cqlPjU2lg-QKriFwQLlhqpCVqdwx6sDoM9ESuzY2nAUk5ss7w6pb_ceRCm_foid23cljNedgCcgWW81lTF_IOdkg0-vVT34E5yf_7ERxM5IgonuFzuE549ohbr/s1600/Christmas+wall+hanging.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="164" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKmqV0xtzzmefv-lPFt1cqlPjU2lg-QKriFwQLlhqpCVqdwx6sDoM9ESuzY2nAUk5ss7w6pb_ceRCm_foid23cljNedgCcgWW81lTF_IOdkg0-vVT34E5yf_7ERxM5IgonuFzuE549ohbr/s320/Christmas+wall+hanging.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
First let's start with the Christmas wallhanging/tablerunner. Isn't it stunning? Look at all beautiful fabrics she used along with the great quilting. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKgMoEMWzBexYIdYWFMmgtrsVZzHO41_Yok1IJbbmFBcTE1CUB4wf1GD3ne_JIISk7wq9IAE82Bo-RgVpOPMsZuvq0-7YdqbJJgxUAWCGxvoYmVCL9cS_Nzv2Kn9QKmqBTzmgTnl2kuEO1/s1600/Halloween+table+runner.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="160" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKgMoEMWzBexYIdYWFMmgtrsVZzHO41_Yok1IJbbmFBcTE1CUB4wf1GD3ne_JIISk7wq9IAE82Bo-RgVpOPMsZuvq0-7YdqbJJgxUAWCGxvoYmVCL9cS_Nzv2Kn9QKmqBTzmgTnl2kuEO1/s320/Halloween+table+runner.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Second comes the fabulous Halloween table runner. This picture does not do it justice. It is a great combination of fabrics that I have never seen before. I will look forward to displaying this every Halloween. As many of you already know Halloween is my favorite Holiday. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoeUFe-dv5_Z10o21LG3ULsHyXqH8zBLqZVLidgOVF5_6w-MuqxmfMT4Lo5-QjuJhGqgoeTgoXRPMsNfCWb_GenRDfQUjpwjNQgbActstmB2W2O1BRm1suyZYSSXqlodetFn8qCFzxTxaX/s1600/Tiny+mug+rug.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="205" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoeUFe-dv5_Z10o21LG3ULsHyXqH8zBLqZVLidgOVF5_6w-MuqxmfMT4Lo5-QjuJhGqgoeTgoXRPMsNfCWb_GenRDfQUjpwjNQgbActstmB2W2O1BRm1suyZYSSXqlodetFn8qCFzxTxaX/s320/Tiny+mug+rug.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Being a lover of all things froggy Dee made sure that I received froggy things. Like this adorable mini quilt. It is sooooooo cute!!! I just love it and am looking for the right place to display it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiR2YkNpn5p17eaEcYpWR7vxN6Hxdg24cx7A3EToYgLfDpcmjx_EHWrvneQQg9MmBjOomVbTOKUS_dhN7SFW6vlA09E0eH0mIrp1weoQtemtkugPoWDNWQwDMCHtJkjMXkvhsw5ey9GMkAm/s1600/Notions+and+scissor+keeper+cu+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="179" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiR2YkNpn5p17eaEcYpWR7vxN6Hxdg24cx7A3EToYgLfDpcmjx_EHWrvneQQg9MmBjOomVbTOKUS_dhN7SFW6vlA09E0eH0mIrp1weoQtemtkugPoWDNWQwDMCHtJkjMXkvhsw5ey9GMkAm/s320/Notions+and+scissor+keeper+cu+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Speaking of frogs, get a gander at this one. Bet you can't guess what it is besides a frog. Nope it's not the pin catcher the honeycomb is. Plus the honeycomb attaches by magnets to your person. I'm always leaving pins and needles in my clothes from using them as pincushions. What a great way to take care of your pins and needles. Ok do you give up? The frog is a tape measure. See his eye that has a shadow. You just pull that a measure anything. Too cute!!! Plus look at the great pair of scissors with the scissor keeper Dee made. Not in this picture is a great seam ripper. I am a very happy swapper. Thank you, Dee. I love everything, you are a great partner!!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is an overall picture of everything I received:</div>

It's that time of year again!!! Time to start thinking of Christmas. If you want to join into a fun Christmas swap this is the one to join. You have 2 days left to join. This is an open swap, therefore you know who you partner is. You are her partner and she is yours. You have to make several items for your swap partner but you have six months to complete them. This kind of swap helps open up those creative juices. If you want a challenge this is a great way to meet those needs.<br />
<br />
Just click on the above picture and it will take you to the website where you just leave a message under the post for the 2016 swap to join in the fun. <br />
<br />
I know it has been a while since my last post and I promise to try harder to post more often. I have been doing a lot of fun things and just haven't been in the right mind set to remember to take pictures and post. Working on that!!!<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red; font-size: large;">Merry Christmas in June!!!!</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgR3y4u1i9rnBCZLdYrmVzgIYqq_ukouiX_LCkHK7MBrOBIziq4TX_6bPIS5WWMbmF4bxs6wKVRD0I8CoLFBN3Kt0QuO7stx40mPOneNSOIX7zCzy0g6xIiZULOR_PWi6cRYBYZ37uhqcg1/s1600/Cheetos+bag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgR3y4u1i9rnBCZLdYrmVzgIYqq_ukouiX_LCkHK7MBrOBIziq4TX_6bPIS5WWMbmF4bxs6wKVRD0I8CoLFBN3Kt0QuO7stx40mPOneNSOIX7zCzy0g6xIiZULOR_PWi6cRYBYZ37uhqcg1/s1600/Cheetos+bag.jpg" height="320" width="254" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ever since I found <a href="http://punkinpatterns.com/blog/2011/03/sweet-tooth-pouch.html" target="_blank">this</a> post on Punkin Patterns blog I've been saving my Cheetos bags. I really, really wanted to make myself a Cheetos tote. Then while working on some my knitted beaded bags I realized I needed a tote just for them. I couldn't wait for my iron on vinyl to arrive. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As in all things I do, I couldn't stop at just one. So I used the smaller bags to make pouches to hold my knitting away from other supplies. The longer pouch is for the knitting needles and knitting while other odds and ends go into the Dumpling Bag. They were a lot of fun to make and a great hit at my quilt guild meeting. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitk-qJYZY9OPauwVYwyHuqGVcN3UTBV1OnQYiP1fgUEwYy0z4d3RAaxY2-oSKXB3GrivRXmMFo3g1ApCiYK04N-SlH6qRPrnaSlzDj8VL_fU413RnR41I4NUzoLHVW8O_A_j3rz_REYr_P/s1600/Cheetos+bags+.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEitk-qJYZY9OPauwVYwyHuqGVcN3UTBV1OnQYiP1fgUEwYy0z4d3RAaxY2-oSKXB3GrivRXmMFo3g1ApCiYK04N-SlH6qRPrnaSlzDj8VL_fU413RnR41I4NUzoLHVW8O_A_j3rz_REYr_P/s1600/Cheetos+bags+.jpg" height="239" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
If you decide to make yourself a pouch or bag be very careful you get the sewing done right the first time. The vinyl doesn't hold up to unsewing and resewing. It also gets very crinkled when turning inside out. I fixed small tears with packing tape. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I can't wait to do an M&M's with almonds purse. It'll be so cute. Of course I will use the family size bags to make the purse and I will design it so that it won't need to be turned inside out if possible.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Cheetos up your life!!!</div>

This year I've decided to join<a href="http://sugarlanequilts.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"> Sugarlane Quilts</a>' Friday Night Sew-in. Quilter's around the world join together to sew on the third Friday of the month and then share their work on their blogs. Click on the name and find out what everyone else did last Friday.<br />
<br />
Here's what I worked on. It's another UFO.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhL57VB5f0U9OwtmlFyFkOQmBu0bQDMH75dNfeVCmkrlN87ooaeVqBvv7pHbSp1xPJtk8BiivBgEN_cel-dAQkk9iWqfYkX0L66EwHKu_AVEFAB14GXvtRL7NHELOvOTyb3OHEaLNo1SGve/s1600/Notebook+cover+front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhL57VB5f0U9OwtmlFyFkOQmBu0bQDMH75dNfeVCmkrlN87ooaeVqBvv7pHbSp1xPJtk8BiivBgEN_cel-dAQkk9iWqfYkX0L66EwHKu_AVEFAB14GXvtRL7NHELOvOTyb3OHEaLNo1SGve/s1600/Notebook+cover+front.jpg" height="320" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
While I'm designing or sewing I use a 5 subject spiral notebook to jot down my notes and measurements. I title the page so that all my notes for that object will be together. That way I can't lose my notes if I just jotted them down on single pieces of paper. I learned this trick in my other life in an accounting office. Anyway for all these years my notebook has been naked. I've always wanted to dress it up but never took the time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
While going through my UFO's I found this pink and blue arch that I made in another paper piecing class. This class was held like 14 years ago. LOL I never made the finished block just completed the arch. So again I put two things I wanted to do together and killed two birds as they say.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I started with the arch and picked some fabrics I thought would do nicely. Here is a picture of how I work when doing unstructured work. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-YM9XcJaklHVbVVuF9eFNCauHNLKfWE71rRt3tO58dgKfBNsh8DgK2rXi3tmFrXsrpV59MAqj1fJ6m6MXrlt_YWfPj6G0CqZuFmRQImGx4ENhO_pV4La5AcFe-Jsq-ZO0_cN2GlUERrsT/s1600/Notebook+cover+starting.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-YM9XcJaklHVbVVuF9eFNCauHNLKfWE71rRt3tO58dgKfBNsh8DgK2rXi3tmFrXsrpV59MAqj1fJ6m6MXrlt_YWfPj6G0CqZuFmRQImGx4ENhO_pV4La5AcFe-Jsq-ZO0_cN2GlUERrsT/s1600/Notebook+cover+starting.jpg" height="179" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The white fabric sewing below the strata is the base that everything will be sewn to to get the strata stability and is cut to the size needed to cover my notebook.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The three elements of surface design are: Simplicity; Exaggeration; and Repetition. So I added more arches in different sized to repeat that element and exaggerate it. I love checker board piecing so I added some checker board in different sizes and colors. This meets all three elements of design. It is also repeated in the checker board green fabric. Lastly I added more dark blue bias strips to repeat that color. I top stitched everything down to the base to secure it, cut all the jagged edges and then quilted it</div>

<br />
<div>
About 18 years ago paper piecing was a new concept. There were no patterns to buy just a concept</div>
<div>
of making your own pattern to paper piece. While living in the Front Range area of Colorado a group of ladies would get together informally every two weeks or so. This depended on what was going on in the quilting world. When there wasn't that much to do we would get together to learn a new technique offered by one of the ladies. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Well, on one occasion we met and one of the ladies taught us how to draw a Mariners compass and then paper piece it. Back then we used tissue paper to draw the pattern on. Tissue paper is really easy to tear off but don't make a mistake because it will tear apart while ripping out your stitching. I wish I had remembered to take a picture before I tore it out. I wasn't thinking on posting this at that time just on finally using the compass. Isn't it great how far we have come in 18 years. Now you would never know that paper piecing is still in it's infancy. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So I made this compass and it's been tossing around my studio for 18 years. I knew I didn't want to make a quilt out of it. The fabrics are all long gone. What to do, What to do? Well I do have a 16" pillow form and this compass is 12". What a great idea. In the picture above I was auditioning fabrics to complete the pillow. I found this older batik I thought would make the compass zing.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I then sewed it to the compass using a freezer paper method. This consists of cutting out a 12" circle from freezer paper. Throwing the circle away and keeping the background with a 12" hole. Then iron the freezer paper to the wrong side of the background fabric. Cut out the center circle again leaving a 1/4" seam allowance. Clip the curves and then turn under the seam allowance toward the back and press very firmly, until the seam allowance stays in place. Tear off the freezer paper and viola' you have the background with a perfect 12" circle hole. I placed this over the compass and centered it as best I could. I kept it in place by glue basting it to the compass. You could either top stitch it in place or open up the seam allowance and sew on the crease made earlier by pressing. I chose to just top stitch. Then I put a fusible interfacing on the back of this little block and cut it into a 16 1/2" circle and made a pillow.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here is the finished pillow:<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It's time again to join up and sew together on Friday nights. It's held the first Friday of every month and last Friday was the first Friday of 2015. I'm late posting but late is better then never. Right? Just click on the logo above and go and see what everyone else did last Friday night.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is what I worked on last Friday all day and into the night. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgUxJSGvxbB3zj8s7ZlBrk66b0kTNqvG-XWjV4Y_Pta-NwClx8bnSa9UpDATbWDLg5IrA6gxBBGaBZRJYDot8SvlglPoo3c2HVFKRFeDYimUiveSG2ZPWh9jVxkTiBuKjb0C6SJR68QsbW/s1600/Daisy+Vest+front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgUxJSGvxbB3zj8s7ZlBrk66b0kTNqvG-XWjV4Y_Pta-NwClx8bnSa9UpDATbWDLg5IrA6gxBBGaBZRJYDot8SvlglPoo3c2HVFKRFeDYimUiveSG2ZPWh9jVxkTiBuKjb0C6SJR68QsbW/s1600/Daisy+Vest+front.jpg" height="320" width="228" /></a>Front</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I started this vest many years ago (so this counts as a finished UFO also, Whoopie!!) I had all the pieces cut out, the piecing and applique done. I never finished it because it no longer fit. I had gained too much weight. Then last year I discovered it wasn't weight but bloat. I had a serious yeast problem that I've spent months getting under control. Part of getting control was to loose 6" off my waist as the websites said would happen. Boy, do I feel better and am hoping that was part of my allergy problem for the last few years. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Anyway I can now fit into my quilted clothing again and have started wearing all my old pieces. Then I found this unfinished vest. I still have one other unfinished clothing project that is beaded to death and that's why it's not finished. It's next after I finish a project I inherited from my mother. My sister gave me this:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2zL6VQspc6aMmGaQV2hLnMT1New69AH12g5HASsml_I8A_wye4S3oj1UvS4UjzuUSQ5SffDmfUFYtyeG6EEmbUgtQlbKrAjM_gMqPQX9bryP7nrriFAldOQ4VYaZwOjSmX-7Ih_gzR3rR/s1600/Mom's%2BStrata%2Bfor%2Bcoat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2zL6VQspc6aMmGaQV2hLnMT1New69AH12g5HASsml_I8A_wye4S3oj1UvS4UjzuUSQ5SffDmfUFYtyeG6EEmbUgtQlbKrAjM_gMqPQX9bryP7nrriFAldOQ4VYaZwOjSmX-7Ih_gzR3rR/s1600/Mom's%2BStrata%2Bfor%2Bcoat.jpg" height="179" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She told me it was Mom's and that Mom was going to make a jacket from it. It's more than enough for a jacket and by the way. You do not make quilt tops and then cut out a jacket. That would mean that you have grain lines going all different which ways and it would start to sag. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
All quilted clothing is done on a base. This is usually muslin and you sew and flip as much as possible to the base to keep the fabrics stationary. It works in quilting because the quilt is sandwiched and quilted. Most quilted clothing is not quilted. I for one do not need batting, I run too hot and it would make me larger. I also like lined clothing. Enough of the rant! I have already started this jacket for me and will have to do a lot of machine embroidery to keep it stationary. I will post here when done. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

It's Christmas Eve and I'm all ready for Santa. I have the cookies made and Hot Chocolate warmed up. My stocking isn't hung but it's waiting right next to Santa's treat. The turkey is thawing and I've already started on the basics for Christmas dinner. I decided that pumpkin pie could wait until New Years. Living alone I don't need all those sweets. <br />
<br />
I want to wish all my followers a very Merry Christmas so I have created my own Christmas card just for you:<br />

It's official!!! My Christmas stocking Noel took 4th place in the Nancy Zieman Christmas Stocking Challenge. I want to thank everyone that took the time to vote for me. As far as I'm concerned I received the best prize. Seven fat quarters from Riley Blake Designs from the Christmas Collection.</div>

Here is the bundle that arrived last evening. But wait you can't really see the fabrics so here's a better view:<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I just love them!!!! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My Santa with his frog stocking took 6th place just 4 votes short of winning 5th place. But that's ok I didn't do the challenge for the prizes I did it for the challenge. I just love a design challenge. Plus both stockings were ideas I've had for a long time. This gave me the inspiration to actually do them to a finished project. I love dead lines too!!!! That's why I started this blog, to have dead lines to help me finish my work. It's helped tremendously, I've gotten more work done since I've started this blog then ever before. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm now working on a few ideas for Christmas mini's. I won't get them done before Christmas so I'll probably show them to you next year. I'm also still trying to finish some older projects that have been sitting around. I need to sit down and decide per month what I should work on and try to get it all done. Maybe having specific deadlines will help me finish most of it. Of course I keep getting interrupted by new ideas. New Ideas tend to take over and yet they don't always get finished either. It's a struggle I've always had. Oh well back to work. I'm about to finish two mini quilts that I shared here two years ago. Finally!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is my post for </div>
<div style="background-color: #faf9f7; font-stretch: normal; margin: 0px; position: relative; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #c78307; font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, FreeMono, monospace; font-size: 24px;"><a href="http://stitchingcubbyhole.blogspot.com/2014/12/friday-night-with-friends.html" style="color: #c78307; font-size: 24px; font-stretch: normal; text-decoration: none;">FriDaY NighT with FRienDs</a> </span><span style="font-family: inherit;">hosted by Gone Stitchin'. It's a fun way to spend the first Friday night of each month. I don't always remember to register but I do sew almost every Friday. </span></div>
<div style="background-color: #faf9f7; font-stretch: normal; margin: 0px; position: relative; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: #faf9f7; font-stretch: normal; margin: 0px; position: relative; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">While I was visiting my son and his wife this Thanksgiving, I noticed that they didn't own any potholders. I also noticed that their new dishes matched a chicken fabric I bought several years ago and couldn't find a use for it. That started it all. </span></div>
<div style="background-color: #faf9f7; font-stretch: normal; margin: 0px; position: relative; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-color: #faf9f7; font-stretch: normal; margin: 0px; position: relative; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I knew I wanted to do the oblong potholders I designed several years ago but I wanted to add to them for a full set of potholders. I searched the web and found this site that had a tutorial for <a href="http://www.sewcanshe.com/blog/2014/9/26/log-cabin-hexi-potholders-a-tutorial-with-partial-seams" target="_blank">Hexagon Potholders</a>. Since they have a slightly oriental decor I thought they would be perfect. They went together fast and easy. Here they are after the first round is sewn on. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs13pyrTCI7m8d2603fHf7Y7ArimH_XtnPjxOMU3hjBFz2Dz2a5jt5LwTlFzNrQxsnxyj3ikOZN6zWjyn2jXKeMqGAcGHN3V1qb9_P5joStk6uv8Gtfzn7llbOIb7iCB9RJrfFMPKgZVwQ/s1600/Hexie+Trivet+first+round.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs13pyrTCI7m8d2603fHf7Y7ArimH_XtnPjxOMU3hjBFz2Dz2a5jt5LwTlFzNrQxsnxyj3ikOZN6zWjyn2jXKeMqGAcGHN3V1qb9_P5joStk6uv8Gtfzn7llbOIb7iCB9RJrfFMPKgZVwQ/s1600/Hexie+Trivet+first+round.jpg" height="228" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Then here they are after the second round and before cut into Hexies.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiS_ztGTzm4R7cFpK1j2WJdjZe1U6DVfmmYtAwv4yw88HoZ0Y3b2r2bEGnE3CM1sgfhbKNEcfFlEVSqcNaiJkuPXaI-b45OPAkXgJdjK6lgPxcoY-As2WFjwyjlF3XOlfytittSglM8PmLX/s1600/Hexie+Trivet+finished+sewing.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiS_ztGTzm4R7cFpK1j2WJdjZe1U6DVfmmYtAwv4yw88HoZ0Y3b2r2bEGnE3CM1sgfhbKNEcfFlEVSqcNaiJkuPXaI-b45OPAkXgJdjK6lgPxcoY-As2WFjwyjlF3XOlfytittSglM8PmLX/s1600/Hexie+Trivet+finished+sewing.jpg" height="200" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">After the hexie's were completed then I cut them into finished hexie shape. Then layered the backing, cotton Batting and Insul-Fleece by Pellon, pinning it temporarily. It is recommend by the manufacturer to put the cotton batting between thefabric that will touch the heated object and the Insul-Fleece. I then turned this layered section over and placed the hexies right sides together with the backing fabric. Sewed around the edges with the usual 1/4" seam allowance, leaving a 1" opening for turning. After sewing was finished I cut around the hexies through all layers. Turned them right side out pressed and topstitched them closed. Then quilted in the ditch throughout the trivet. This is the final product. Too cute!!!!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXyFbq48iougk-Qo2ec8i_-SQ-C2Pyca7MBzzf1_3JXiBZBacSSOuz-JBhouzYdXm2zVBabgKsj92Hqc19uoT5hnkgKKPqaJ3tAvIOkHT_SoGiXwTALjIqTUdOmmb_Q44DqqQKw76eWGmy/s1600/Hexie+Trivets.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXyFbq48iougk-Qo2ec8i_-SQ-C2Pyca7MBzzf1_3JXiBZBacSSOuz-JBhouzYdXm2zVBabgKsj92Hqc19uoT5hnkgKKPqaJ3tAvIOkHT_SoGiXwTALjIqTUdOmmb_Q44DqqQKw76eWGmy/s1600/Hexie+Trivets.jpg" height="232" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I then started with the <a href="http://www.pellonprojects.com/projects/oblong-pot-holders/?sort=1&sb=by-project-type&type=kitchen" target="_blank">Oblong Potholders</a>. They are still available as a free download at Pellon Projects. I did change how I quilted the fabric. Instead of doing several small sandwiches I made one big one. It's still small enough to handle easily with a regular sewing machine. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0L8Ea_ziJw2RQdq966xbM7atvKkpwkcsmZzMYICV-MntXAwUE9_OOJSrFPS0sD0DL2aqHJt2-zONPuk7oX-ZbDERLt4d1o75rO9b-UP5K3ub2cf1S5T1rCWtVZxkz_9RMHnUyz-MRTSB8/s1600/Potholder+quilting+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0L8Ea_ziJw2RQdq966xbM7atvKkpwkcsmZzMYICV-MntXAwUE9_OOJSrFPS0sD0DL2aqHJt2-zONPuk7oX-ZbDERLt4d1o75rO9b-UP5K3ub2cf1S5T1rCWtVZxkz_9RMHnUyz-MRTSB8/s1600/Potholder+quilting+2.jpg" height="179" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Here's the finished Oblong Potholders:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8UZiPAabW0TS_8tQNw0MtyfmplJKZ1tMtYlK8NPThn9vIIl_6nwYf6aoGwTuLaESngsa6doIMqwEea7iTYuDqNzG3LQUNK6fZnfX2yp49chTW6Qmwq5kI63U8XjxS0zVsSqQ6OLqf2I0A/s1600/Chicken+Potholder.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8UZiPAabW0TS_8tQNw0MtyfmplJKZ1tMtYlK8NPThn9vIIl_6nwYf6aoGwTuLaESngsa6doIMqwEea7iTYuDqNzG3LQUNK6fZnfX2yp49chTW6Qmwq5kI63U8XjxS0zVsSqQ6OLqf2I0A/s1600/Chicken+Potholder.jpg" height="279" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I almost finished here, then thought about the Pot Handle Holders I would love to own myself. I again did a web search and found several ways to make them after measuring your own pans. I wanted something more universal. So into the kitchen I went to look at my cast iron pans and my other cooking pans. I saw that there are some pots with short handles and some with long. You know what that means. I needed to make one of each. I had extra quilted fabric left over from the Oblong Potholders so I used that to make these. They slip easily onto the pot handles. This is a very easy way to pick up a hot pot without the usual slipping with a flat pot holder.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixOfX-PSNqZIuyF6PJKDaQsZ-1J65ARm8ckzX1mtxJjRqm1b4BBj_A7sf_M1KGTw1Dy9AeePsxFoS0FFBV8fXDRb6mtmyHuNGN2-Zwio-lknmV0jJlBMJeVFPHWOqlRnbQkz9RJA5n51yY/s1600/Pot+Handle+Holders.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixOfX-PSNqZIuyF6PJKDaQsZ-1J65ARm8ckzX1mtxJjRqm1b4BBj_A7sf_M1KGTw1Dy9AeePsxFoS0FFBV8fXDRb6mtmyHuNGN2-Zwio-lknmV0jJlBMJeVFPHWOqlRnbQkz9RJA5n51yY/s1600/Pot+Handle+Holders.jpg" height="294" width="320" /></a></span></div>
<br />
Again I almost stopped here. Then I thought that my Oblong Potholders are great for on the stove and some baking but not so great for large oven roasters or oblong cake dishes. I hate oven mitts that are two mitts with a long length between the mitts. It limits the user to size of pots/pans that can be used. I also can't see the use for the middle section. So I designed some Oven Mitts that are similar but separate. <br />
<br />
I wanted them to be different for the others I had already made but of the same fabrics. So I started with layering the cotton batting and Insul-fleece over the backing fabric with the ride side down down. For ease of handling I pinned this layer section on the corners. I cut several widths of the fabrics I had already used and sewing them with a sew and flip method. This allowed me to quilt as I went along.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEix60tu0scFzESPjjlvCgjdJMfDCQAvPkonJ0uvRP5cZGzCsO6OuRPx9ObfJR8dsOxrfXHBlwwhiUWM_FWNwFNRVeCuN4q35UgSdBOLZhkjys3wEEFH14MzNe-W9pKLOGtap2YPS1EgT0tQ/s1600/Oven+Mitt+Starta+starting.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEix60tu0scFzESPjjlvCgjdJMfDCQAvPkonJ0uvRP5cZGzCsO6OuRPx9ObfJR8dsOxrfXHBlwwhiUWM_FWNwFNRVeCuN4q35UgSdBOLZhkjys3wEEFH14MzNe-W9pKLOGtap2YPS1EgT0tQ/s1600/Oven+Mitt+Starta+starting.jpg" height="186" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used the finished quilted fabric to cut out the oven mitt pattern. I finished them with binding as with the Oblong Potholders.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFuS7kFvOgORPLNXOTbDD1nVWvCqvs0xAdbW4RnJJsxWJ7xqMK9AouLdv6FYKf0jBwD3vvtU-cOcw0SfO6nvEZZ4XvJauJDohtWN_oOOvU8V9kjPZYYyb9hG0hIRTcy1MtQFUB8piiNItQ/s1600/Oven+Mitt+Sewn+Strata.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFuS7kFvOgORPLNXOTbDD1nVWvCqvs0xAdbW4RnJJsxWJ7xqMK9AouLdv6FYKf0jBwD3vvtU-cOcw0SfO6nvEZZ4XvJauJDohtWN_oOOvU8V9kjPZYYyb9hG0hIRTcy1MtQFUB8piiNItQ/s1600/Oven+Mitt+Sewn+Strata.jpg" height="193" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was busy with my many designs and making my annual Christmas Ornaments for my family when a friend called me about a last minute challenge. You all know I can't resist a design challenge. I dropped everything and started on the above stocking named of course, "Noel". It is something that I have had in my mind for several years. Almost 20 to be precise. In fact I was having trouble working on it at first as I wanted it to be elegant and usually I do cute and/or humorous. I think I created elegant. What do you think? Here is a closeup of the thread work done on the poinsettia petals:</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is my second entry (we could have up to three entries). It is named, "Santa's Delivery". See I couldn't resist cute and humorous. I just took a Santa I already designed and made him longer and added a stuffed frog. Why a frog? some of you may ask. Because I'm a froggy person not a teddy person. So some lucky child will receive a stuffed frog and not a teddy. he he he </div>

The rules were simple. Just pick a stocking pattern from the Pellon site or the Baby Lock site and go for it. They are all pictured on Nancy Zieman's Blog and that is where you go to vote. Here are the projects I've been working on to finish by today. As you can see I didn't make it. Some are my designs and some aren't. Actually only two aren't but I'll take about those later. The four on the left are mine. Three of which will be patterns for next year. Now I'm ahead and not behind. LOL<br />
<br />
The paper pieced pumpkin is all finished except for quilting. I don't know if you can tell without the eyes but the last border are snakes. How cute is that!! Sorry I just love when I'm successful. The other three just need borders before they are ready for quilting. The patterns for Toadily Pumpkin, Witchy Frog and Creepy Pumpkin will be available from Craftsy sometime this summer. Don't go there now as I don't have anything there at this time.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Today I wanted to also share with you other peoples designs that you can make your own. The Flying Witch is a design seen all over. I took it a step further and added a face inside the moon. It's barely visible as I didn't want it to take over the witch. It is also very hard to find yellow fabrics in different shades without changing the hue. It will be for a round pillow form so the whole thing is round. Why the strips in the background. Simple I didn't have enough fabric so added a strip. Still wasn't big enough, something wrong with my math. I then added two more as odd is always better than even. So the lesson is there are no mistakes there are just design challenges and we can always handle that. Don't go searching for that fabric you'll never find. Substitute with a fabric close to the same color and disburse evenly around the quilt. Remember odd is better then even.<br />
<br />
The pieced witches is from Quiltmaker Sept/ Oct/2009 and is called "Any Witch Way". Sorry it is now out of print. I've had it on my todo list for a few years ago and I must have been one of the last to purchase it from McCalls. <a href="http://www.quiltmaker.com/patterns/details.html?idx=7755" target="_blank">Here</a> is the link anyway.<br />

<br />
This one is called "Candy Corn Pumpkin" at least that's what I call it. It is a pattern by Sonya's Snippets. Sonya not only gives away the pattern but also has a <a href="https://atbquilting.wordpress.com/2012/10/28/paper-foundation-piecing-beyond-the-basics/" target="_blank">tutorial</a>. I couldn't tell what size her jpeg was so I simply remade it in EQ7. The <a href="https://atbquilting.wordpress.com/2012/10/27/2648/" target="_blank">smaller Candy corn</a> is also available from Sonya with a tutorial. I made the the smaller candy corn because my pillow form was a rectangle. Then filled in with the candy corn fabric. That's one of the elements of design; Repetition. After the holidays I hope to do a series of post on the 6 elements of surface design. It is what I have taught for years in my Quilting Clothing classes. I will be using the clothing and some of my quilts as samples of the elements. <br />

Here is a <a href="http://www.favequilts.com/master_images/FaveQuilts/Holiday/Halloween/Jack-O-Lantern-Paper-Piecing-Pattern.pdf" target="_blank">pattern</a> that is available free on the web also. It is a small rectangle so I just used matching fabrics to make it the size I wanted. The link I am sharing takes you directly to the free PDF. It's fun and easy to make. <br />

I haven't forgotten. I've just been busy trying to get this quilt quilted so that I could applique the ghosts on. I'm not very diligent with my quilting as I don't do it very well. I hate not being good at something. Everyone keeps telling me I'll get better but I don't see that happening. It doesn't help that I usually end up with scrunched shoulders that hurt to beat the band. Then comes the headache from being in pain and being so tense. Oh well it's done now and so should my petty party come to an end. I still have to bind it and add a sleeve for hanging but that can be put off until after Halloween. I'm just so glad to be done with this quilt in time for Halloween. Can't wait to get it hung.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
This is the next block up for sharing. It is a Shoofly variation. I just love the 9 patch in the middle, that's probably why I chose it. It's simple but elegant. Just click on the picture about and it will take you to the PDF file for download/print. Remember to be sure you printer is set at 100% before printing. This block as all the others in this border are 6" finished. Make 4 of these block.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I'm calling this block Wicked Four Patch because it doesn't have a name. I think this is the block you end up when doing a Disappearing 4 patch. I didn't want to do that many blocks so I took it to EQ7 and recreated into a single block. Again I love the simplicity of this block and it made great corners. Make 4 of these blocks.<br />
<br />
Assembly is really easy. Just follow my picture for placement for the blocks and use your knowledge of quilt assembly to put on the borders. The last border is a solid border with corner blocks. It is 2 1/2 inches finished, there for the corner blocks are 2 1/2 inches square finished. <br />
<br />
I can't wait to see some of your finished quilts. Please join my Flickr group, <a href="https://www.flickr.com/groups/2296900@N21/" target="_blank">PecksPieces Gallery</a> and share any finished projects you done from any of my patterns. Just click on the above highlighted words and it will take you to the group. <br />
<br />
Well back to work for me. I still have a few unfinished Halloween projects I need to finish in the next two weeks. I'll be back next week to share some of those projects with you.<br />

I'm back with two more blocks for the HoWlinG HauNteD HoUsE wall hanging. The first to be presented is the Log Cabin Pumpkin, just click on the picture to download or print the PDF file. Be sure to have your printer at 100% before printing. Also please note that some partial sewing will be necessary and is explained in the pattern. Make 4 Log Cabin Pumpkin blocks.<br />

Next is the Frog or Toad Block. What's Halloween without a few toads. This is a pretty straight forward block without any special instructions. Just click on the toad to download or print the PDF file. Make 4 Toad Blocks.<br />

<br />
I've been really busy finishing up some of these UFO's I've collected over the years. In the past I was very good on not starting something that I wouldn't finish. I would have at least three projects at one time. One in design mode, one in sewing mode and one in quilting mode. That way if I became bored with one element of a project I could go on to one of the others. <br />
<br />
I lost control of this good behavior when my family life became chaos and I'm trying to get it back. It seemed the simplest way was to finish all those UFO's so I could start from scratch. Easier said then done, right? <br />
<br />
The above mini quilt is my copy of a quilt I made/designed for a swap a few years ago. I started this one for me but never finished it. Plus I changed it slightly. The original (below) is smaller to fit the size requirements of the swap. It was shipped off to my swap partner, scrapnchick over on Flickr. It also has organza ghosts. I did't leave them off on purpose but it was for the best because<br />
they need to be added after quilting and mine is so much more intricate.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The square spider web block is something I found on the web. It has a tutorial <a href="http://www.maryquilts.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Spiderweb-instructions.pdf" target="_blank">here</a>. The only problem was that it is almost impossible to make an exact size because even the slightest change becomes a drastic change after the slicing and dicing. It was just easier to make it the size in the tutorial and then frame it to fit my quilt. The first border is done is sections just to add interest. The last border is Broken Dishes done with different colorway for the corners, again just for interest.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is also my copy of a quilt I made for another swap. The original (below) was sent to quiltnkimmie on Flickr. It again was smaller than mine. Both of mine are 24" square to fit my large pillow forms. There is just not enough wall space in my home. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbhKGJfNlb8ecGTn1fvj_gVgT4yXV1bixkF4Wdl2giEz1rP1UQfRTe1OhQBTnM6vI7fqq4ErLUnCFXXiEhLnzI1sEfzBbPsb6r8vqGCb5LIHwAbOg-3pT8D-3BO528kZV9eVuNbRpLDHRF/s1600/STUD+Sept-Oct+2011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbhKGJfNlb8ecGTn1fvj_gVgT4yXV1bixkF4Wdl2giEz1rP1UQfRTe1OhQBTnM6vI7fqq4ErLUnCFXXiEhLnzI1sEfzBbPsb6r8vqGCb5LIHwAbOg-3pT8D-3BO528kZV9eVuNbRpLDHRF/s1600/STUD+Sept-Oct+2011.jpg" height="306" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I designed the outside border on EQ7. I just snap a picture of my applique design and and import it into EQ7 and design around it. The other difference is that I put a frog in my witches hand instead of a house. The original was for a fan of Wizard of Oz. Me, I'm a frog girl all the way. The name of this quilt is "Take that My Pretty", the witch likes pink like me so her frog needed to be pink not green. So she zapped her!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Last but not least is the block I designed for a Halloween Blog Hop. <a href="http://peckspieces.blogspot.com/2012/10/tempting-thursday-of-wicked-blog-hop.html" target="_blank">Here</a> is the original post where you can download the Boo Pattern and learn how to applique organza ghosts. Yes, this is bigger and the ghosts are different. Again I wanted to fit a 24" pillow form. I just added borders until it was the right size. The orange border is pieced because not enough fabric. I didn't want a detailed pieced border so I just randomly pieced it. I almost always added the extra fabric by cutting the original fabric diagonally any angle I feel like. Then add a strip.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The ghosts where changed because they really needed to be added after the quilting. So I used a seam ripper very carefully and took the original ghosts off. Then replace them with full ghosts. Here's what it looked like before the borders and with the original ghosts.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Bat Wings is the first block I will be sharing with you for the HoWlinG HauNteD HoUsE Wall quilt. It is a really simple traditional block. When designing this quilt I decided to use traditional blocks as much as possible. So I did a search on the web for blocks using several criteria for my search. This is what came up with entering Bat Quilt Block. <br />
<br />
All the blocks in this wall quilt are 6" finished. This block can be made without paper piecing it but I have furnished the paper piecing pattern for you. Just click on the above picture and it will take you to the PDF file for download or printing. Again I remind you that when printing make sure you printer is on 100% before printing. You will need 8 blocks of Bat Wings to complete this wall quilt.<br />
<br />
I am still working on getting some of my UFO's finished and I've done very well this week. I have finished 6 UFO's this week. Let's have a Yahoo!!! for me. I will be sharing several of this projects with you in the next few weeks. I just have to formulate how I will be presenting them. I can tell you they are all Halloween projects. <br />
<br />
By the way sorry for being a day late on this post. Some how I lost a day. On Thursday I knew it was Thursday but on Friday I thought it was Thursday. Do you have this problem or am I getting OLD. Don't answer that, I don't want to know.<br />

Here it is a week later and time for the Candy Corner border. This border comes in two parts, the border and the corner pieces. Click Here for the border PDF file and Here for the corners. Please make sure that your printer is set to 100%. I noticed that some people had trouble with the pattern being bigger than the paper on the last round. <br />
<br />
You will need four borders and four corners for this round. If you are using more than one background fabric make sure to do several offsetting triangles with both fabrics. No rhyme or reason just scatter them to your liking. For a reminder of the whole quilt a picture is below.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Halloween is almost here and it's time for some great items I have to share with everyone. This year for Halloween I decided to do something different, instead of an applique quilt I decided to do a pieced wall quilt. The finished size is 47" x 47". For the fabric requirements click HERE Don't try to duplicate these fabrics as they are from my stash and very old. In fact the house and some of the blocks are made with a piece of hand dyed fabric I dyed myself several years ago. I can tell you that 95% of the fabrics used were batiks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The above picture is from EQ7 so there may have been a few changes. I'm in the process of quilting this wall hanging and it's not ready for pictures. Ignore the funny way the moon is showing. I had to do that in order to place it over more than one block. There is a lot to learn in EQ7 and I still have a lot more to learn. I usually design my applique in Canvas, a drafting program designed with an artist in mind.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In the fabric requirement PDF you will find the applique patterns without seam allowances for the moon and the oval windows. There is also 3 ghost patterns that have not been included in this picture. They will be applied after the quilt is quilted. Remember my Boo block with the organza ghosts.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="316" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn8MZlcjUUGrw4RR0GuLM1o-KTVpHWluzRSfrpVndg4PEisqE5WoGuJAiLIZIByCFBvvy2xjThFhxjafCaeiKV-F1yBpw37lh_SX-_oY-pCUn4qRcywHwAfUkizPpHYdzkTmp1lEUGVFHS/s1600/Boo-Ghostly+Blk+finished.jpg" width="320" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That's how these ghosts will be applied to the front of the house on this quilt. You can either find the original post on how to applique organza or you can just click on the picture about to go to the PDF tutorial.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Are you ready to start on this house? Click on the picture below and it will take you to the PDF file.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIxd3Ha-FJvM-0ja1xYloL0Vaj9vhGju6dVBQ8F0Us59S7_cneyrW9_6AZkAkYO-cllXC35i-RVCJLks5vxA8rAMSr7EBRQB86JOcXTsmmu26p6Ka3nhyphenhyphenBtxLkNiBNc8BLMp6ATmddzZoE/s1600/Haunted+House+house.jpg" width="314" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Why did I use two different back ground fabrics you ask! Not enough fabric is the answer. Since I'm now retired my budget is very small for fabric purchases for every quilt. So the new rule of thumb is to make my designs without purchasing new fabric. If I have to purchase I'm only allowed one purchase, unless of course I'm already broke that month. Since my stash is vast this is not a problem unless I don't have the right shade of a color. I didn't have two periwinkle fabrics that were the same shade so I kept going until I was happy with what I did. This is easy to do if using EQ7. You just need to scan the fabrics and import them into the program. The problem was that I wanted the house to float into the Candy Corn border. I felt this gave the quilt a scarier feel.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Just a warning!! This house is very easy to piece except it has a stray piece that will need some partial sewing. That's where you just sew part of the seam, attach more pieces and finish the seam after this. It's piece K under the eave of the top dormer. I wish I had taken some pictures as I sewed this section but I didn't. If you have trouble with this section let me know and I will try and do some kind of demo. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I will be furnishing you with the Candy Corn Border and Corners next week. Make sure I keep that promise please. lol </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here it is at long last the 3rd block in the series "Love in Bloom". Boy oh boy am I late getting these blocks out to you. No good excuses just seem to be rudderless these days. I actually started this blog to give me deadlines so that I would accomplish more. It worked for the first few years, but this year I'm lost again. Let's blame it on that I'm turning 65 at the end of the year. That's a good excuse isn't it. But really I'm just keep starting things and not finishing. I have a rule to not post until the item is pattern ready so that I can share with that pattern with you.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5DEDg67U_IwQ282dlF5a0tZdm8/edit?usp=sharing" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRNk910ZDepwOkGIr712u2xzm61crIGVSKTTkQoakDK4_mS8jIHmV26Y-YVACCatfm81qnwkpf7aaYX2AViO9m-yiUmXR9rihLeK6txFFTTNLVvUbz1Djh9cS4lOsstyMQyP42moT5zziz/s1600/Love+in+Bloom+4.jpg" height="275" width="320" /></a></div>
Here is block 4 from the "Love in Bloom" series. I decided that if I held it up I might never get it posted. I have so many irons in the fire right now it's crazy.<br />
<br />
My DD asked me to make her a set of kitchen appliance covers and I've designed them but have yet to touch fabric. She asked in December 2013. But in my defense every time I design something I get more and more ideas. So I've spent most of my time this year on designing. I've designed a whole set of kitchen appliance covers for me and also a sewing kit set for me that is frogs. <br />
<br />
I've made and need to write patterns for several pincushions. Missed most of the holidays that those were for. Yet I still need to get it together because I've designed a whole quilt and several pincushions for my favorite holiday, Halloween.<br />
<br />
On the up side some of my patterns are now being featured on <a href="http://www.favequilts.com/?gclid=CjwKEAjw9eyeBRCqxc_b-LD8kTESJADsBMxSKbJkM5jfBFKT1erVRe7pDl7L8OPDkfhE5FBhP-XhYhoCsmDw_wcB" target="_blank">Favequilts</a>. Check it out by clicking on the name. They've done mostly my Halloween pincushions so far. You still come to my blog to download the pattern. It's just to make more blog exposure. Well I need to get back to work to get some of these projects done.<br />
<br />
Hopefully I'll be back soon with some great patterns to share.<br />
<br />
Sharing is such fun!!!<br />

Here are a few of my unfinished projects that I have ear marked for finishing soon. So far I'm not doing so bad. I've finished the machine applique on the flamingo's and the ladies. Hand applique is almost finished on the frogs. I'm about to finish the machine applique on the three Halloween quilts today. <br />
<br />
I will then be moving onto a few borders for everything but the ladies. They are ready for squaring up and sandwiching. Let's see how long this takes me.<br />
<br />
You may recognize a few of these mini quilts. They are duplicates of mini's I designed for swaps in the last two years. I like to try to make myself a copy. I guess it's hard to give away without keeping something. Do you all have that problem. I just have that problem with the mini's. I just have to have my own copy. <br />
<br />
Let's talk about naming quilts for a minute. Words are the hardest part for me. I almost always have trouble naming my quilts. The frogs, flamigos and the witch have names but the other three don't. If anyone has any great ideas for the three just leave a message and who knows maybe I'll choose your naming, or maybe it will help me to think up a name. I could use any help you can give.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This quilt is called, "Birds on a Wire". It is a duplicate of a quilt I did a year ago for a swap. I actually made them at the same time, but under a time crunch I never finished mine. Now here it is. Hurrah!!!! One more bit the dust!!! It's finished, it's finished, it's finished. That's my happy dance. Actually I made a major error that I have to fix. I attached the quilt sleeve to the bottom of the quilt and not the top. I guess that upside down bird confused me. LOL </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is a close up of the birds. This is the last time I used raw edge and I will probably never do it again. Sorry ladies, I can't stand raw edge!!!! It's just as easy to do it with turning it under and machine applique on top. I'll be showing you some of my other small quilts where I've done them that way pretty soon I hope. I'm working on finishing them now. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now here is the quilt I did for the swap last year. Mine is a bit bigger by choice. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh7C1Wf33KSpxnULE2bXAVrzpkmatVUKw8bCrqhpn6JLDlJ7mr_Wui9gTu9ykPKK2c1TWAfz3GS07Mx9hlKSmaS142XJqVxECRGiVnrPkkl-J4hq7a1aoIoWtxXEuyDfLFbVbEgvoDPwdh/s1600/Birds+on+a+Wire.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh7C1Wf33KSpxnULE2bXAVrzpkmatVUKw8bCrqhpn6JLDlJ7mr_Wui9gTu9ykPKK2c1TWAfz3GS07Mx9hlKSmaS142XJqVxECRGiVnrPkkl-J4hq7a1aoIoWtxXEuyDfLFbVbEgvoDPwdh/s1600/Birds+on+a+Wire.jpg" height="272" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Another finish for me is a Block of the Month I started in the early 90's. The pattern was furnished by the local quilt shop for a month. After a month this was a minimum cost. I can't remember the name of the quilt. It is hand appliqued and machine quilted. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I have not been posting lately. Everything is fine for those of you that were kind enough to send me messages asking after me. I'm still having trouble with allergy's but am trying to keep busy. The real reason you haven't heard from me is that I'm working on older quilt projects and I'm making progress but not finishing anything yet. <br />
<br />
In the middle of all this I spent last weekend flying to my DSD's for a mini family reunion. We were meeting a granddaughter/niece that we had never met. So we spent the weekend teaching her how to sew. What better way to get to know someone then to sew with them. <br />
<br />
As a surprise to my DSD, I made her a quilt of her dog and his favorite toy. He's so cute dragging along that 6' blue snake that I couldn't resist creating a quilt in his honor. So here it is, "Charlie and His Snake, Blue. Below is the small quilt in it's new home in DSD's entryway.<br />

We also went through DSD's colletion of her quilts and some of mine. Here is a clown I made for her oldest son as a baby. Back then I stole pictures from coloring books. I think that's where I took this cute clown. I had fun making this I remember.<br />

Here is another small quilt I made for DSD's oldest daughter. DSD wanted me to make the quilt feminine but also showing a girl in sports. She never played baseball but she did play rugby. She was just a baby when this was made so we didn't know what she would play. <br />

I've also been trying to get my quilt records up to date by photographing all my quilts that haven't been photographed or at least not in digital. I've created a file on my computer with pictures and history for each and every quilt. Once I have it current it will be easy to keep it current. <br />
<br />
I've also been trying to write my history. I was explaining to my Landlady how I used to lecture and all the stories I told about my quilts, quilted clothing and cloth dolls in my journey's. She said, "I hope you have it all written down so it's not lost." That started me thinking that she is right, so I've split my time between writing my history, finishing unfinished projects and documenting all my quilts. Pretty boring to write here about but I'll try to do better. The part I'm behind on is good pictures of my clothing. I can't wear it and photograph it at the same time. Some of it doesn't fit anymore either. I'll have to get someone that can model or take photo's. <br />
<br />
Keeping up the history can be fun!!!<br />

I have posted "Love in Bloom Block 2" as a free PDF file. Just click on the above picture and it will take you to the PDF file. You can either download it or print it.<br />
<br />
I have been trying to get this posted all day but it's taken this long to get back to it. What was keeping me you may ask. Car registration!!!! When I went outside to get something from my car I noticed that the tags were due last month. How could that be I never received a renewal notice. <br />
<br />
When I check out the registration in the car I noticed it still had my old address on it. But I changed it two years ago. Something was way wrong here. So I called DMV and of course had to wait in line. That wasn't too bad as most people renew online these days. It could have been much worse. The problem with the registration is that my deceased (Bless him) husband is the primary owner on the car and his address wasn't changed. I can't change it because I'm not him.<br />
<br />
They asked me why I never removed him. That's a long story I will try to make short. Arizona does car titles differently than all other states. They don't stop the owner from holding the title if they are still paying on the car. In other states most titles are held by the loan holder until paid off. We purchased this car when we lived in Colorado where the loan holder holds the title. So Arizona never had the title. If I want to remove my husband from the title I need to go back to Colorado and go through their red tape to get the title. Then I could get the title here in Arizona. Why do that when I already have my name on the registration and I'll probably drive this car until it or I die. <br />
<br />
Luckily the rep I talked to at DMV just made me primary owner so I can now have the renewals coming to the proper address. That done I needed to get a smog certificate before I could do online registration. Off I went. There is always a line there. Not as long as it used to be since they can just hook up to the cars computer and do the smog test. <br />
<br />
They charged me and then told me I failed and could go inside to find out why. This part really scared me. I'm on a limited income and I worry when anything breaks. I'm still trying to save for a new dryer. Anyway it was only that my gas cap wasn't up to par. That's an easy fix, so off to Checkers to buy a new gas cap. They were nice enough to take off my old gas cap and put on the new one. The old one had a tether and it needed to be removed with a socket set. While there I also bought new windshield wipers that I've needed for some time. Everything made of rubber or plastic just gets eaten up here in Arizona. We have to change all that out every two years. Same with our car batteries. Luckily they are under warranty for 5 years, but can only be replaced once after purchase.<br />
<br />
Back to the smog testing site and another line. Finally I'm ready for my online registration. Went to get something to eat and then home. Wow, it's 5 and all I've done is the car registration. I really can't complain because a few years ago I would have had to wait in line at the DMV for hours to be told what I learned over the telephone only waiting an hour. The testing used to take hours in line also, then I would have had to go back to DMV in person to finish with several hours wait there again. <br />
<br />
Good news is that I am now a legally covered driver again. Woooooo Hooooo!!!!<br />
I don't have my stickers but I have a paper that makes it okay. The new stickers will come in the mail to the right address and all will be well.<br />
<br />
Make it legal!!!!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hello!! I'm back!! Sorry it took so long. I've been cleaning up the ole studio and trying to organize all my projects. I had promised myself that this would be my priority this year. I just couldn't stand not doing something new too. lol Here it is and I'm calling it "Love is Bloom". I guess I'm just not done with hearts and flowers. They are actually two of my most favorite things. Just click on the picture above and it will take you to the Materials list.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5DEDg67U_IwMzhwNzR0RDZaeUU/edit?usp=sharing" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRdaks9mbHNcTI4c-5_BCanSQroF91dDwJ2laoq80d__W8I3TORlj9NpkCBDgLROBNTbxR-HvRfI89gCLaERJllFhp0_08YjfB8oljRaScGq1zHdK7p5i_5qRy0ZMrf1G71zL7A8zBXOm6/s1600/Love+in+Bloom+1.jpg" height="280" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is Block 1 of the new "Love in Bloom" Series. Be aware that this block has been reduced to fit a standard 8.5 x 11" paper. To make the right size you will need to increase the size by 160%. When you open the PDF you will also notice that the outline block is smaller then what fits on the page but the guide lines for placement are correct. Click on the picture of this block and it will take you to the free PDF file. Hope everyone enjoys this new design. I'll be back next week to share the second block in this series.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I used the new way of folding fabric using a 6" ruler as a folding guide. Then I organized the folded fabrics into plastic tubs that I can see through.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm really enjoying this new method. It gives easy access and easy viewing. I can view my whole collection of one color without dragging out half the closet. I just have to lift out the tub for that particular color. I'm going to have to be good about putting it back the way I found it. But with this method if I'm not it won't fit into the closet. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjes5bgvQIbagCrpCE826eOJFqVJpY9ebTVkzUAbcr3MAuMYiBjcyBfBezJXZziCycFW2UnnmzfeBVIiP-lyJ5YVVn-stiBzFTPEo1jXQSQ_QiWdvDGSDuv2pRGo8lZLHU4AGaaj0J9GuOI/s1600/reorganized+fabric.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjes5bgvQIbagCrpCE826eOJFqVJpY9ebTVkzUAbcr3MAuMYiBjcyBfBezJXZziCycFW2UnnmzfeBVIiP-lyJ5YVVn-stiBzFTPEo1jXQSQ_QiWdvDGSDuv2pRGo8lZLHU4AGaaj0J9GuOI/s1600/reorganized+fabric.jpg" height="320" width="198" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It's been a lot of work but it's also made me sick. Literally sick, it created so much dust that I was sneezing and wheezing the whole time. Now I'm suffering from vertigo created from allergies and am taking meds to clear this up. The bad news is I'm only half way through. I've only done the Halloween and batik fabrics so far. That's the fabrics I mostly use for my applique but I need to finish. Maybe if I really know what I own it will be easier to use up some of this fabric. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I'm taking a break from folding fabrics and I have to order more tubs anyway. I'm going to try and space it out. That's hard to do as it creates a major mess while trying to organize and fold at the same time. Fabric and tubs everywhere and no place to put anything until a shelf is clear.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

It's Christmas morning so I thought I would share the items I sent to my partner in the Santa Sack Swap. She doesn't have a blog or website so it's up to me to post the items. Let me tell you some of her likes first. Her favorite color is red, she likes quilted houses, Raggedy Anne, and Gingerbreadmen. So here is what I came up with for her 6 gifts. This is everything but the home made jams that I sent.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRS6ITKpQ_WjISChOdxiRsbvqdgfiQQMlhMvnLawYw3OPPWbVd_ep8cd7tTN01VJmH87cusUSDGJDuBlLyaJ2kXadyiHu8ZXWZJJEML92P9pltHcIGR-1tI3fT2KVMDdCniM5NvsmVd6Lm/s1600/Santa+Sack+Swap+2013.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="236" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRS6ITKpQ_WjISChOdxiRsbvqdgfiQQMlhMvnLawYw3OPPWbVd_ep8cd7tTN01VJmH87cusUSDGJDuBlLyaJ2kXadyiHu8ZXWZJJEML92P9pltHcIGR-1tI3fT2KVMDdCniM5NvsmVd6Lm/s320/Santa+Sack+Swap+2013.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now for the individual pictures. I'll start with the tote. We had to make a tote or Christmas stocking, my partner asked for a tote non Christmas. She loves quilted houses so I designed this tote just for her.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgkGz0ZyfQe3TIEB2faGGbeBCI4WOWgewos-xYfJlMH-gwhDyb7B6ye28jXoKG9Ad2cSKGqDYGchBkIg7sljjSTWqg4kDBMQZCNjjgVt2sUUm5z54I_y3LhECvqC8UxGfAzZM4R38UaYIN/s1600/House+Tote.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgkGz0ZyfQe3TIEB2faGGbeBCI4WOWgewos-xYfJlMH-gwhDyb7B6ye28jXoKG9Ad2cSKGqDYGchBkIg7sljjSTWqg4kDBMQZCNjjgVt2sUUm5z54I_y3LhECvqC8UxGfAzZM4R38UaYIN/s320/House+Tote.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
This tote is even better than mine because I found a better way to make the strap. This strap is very strong and doesn't stretch. Mine does, I'll give the link for this tutorial on another posting.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This picture is deceiving. It's much smaller then it appears. It is like 6" x 8" and made with the only gingham I own. My partner loves gingham. I took step by step pictures on how to make this pouch so I will make a tutorial for some time in January.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I couldn't do a swap without a pincushion so her she is. As I've already stated my partner loves Raggedy Anne. I couldn't make just one, I needed one too. She's about 6" tall. I've also taken step by step pictures of her and will share latter.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My partner also received the same ornaments that I gave my family for Christmas. There were 3 snowmen, 1 red, 1 green and this blue one. Of course I made myself a set of these ornaments and they are hanging on my tree. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6C-4BKMfB57t6p92gZrxt5fn-r4wxGKFKa_pW3ra31fEXnYDZsdS5hs4UPdM6_Du9YXvKXJxbYtsV8_1pfoWBbHN87EAd3lHNCHWNae78wW9RJoq7N7fOnmZjzIZ50Hf3poF5rZ5uzGFm/s1600/Sweets+of+Christmas.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6C-4BKMfB57t6p92gZrxt5fn-r4wxGKFKa_pW3ra31fEXnYDZsdS5hs4UPdM6_Du9YXvKXJxbYtsV8_1pfoWBbHN87EAd3lHNCHWNae78wW9RJoq7N7fOnmZjzIZ50Hf3poF5rZ5uzGFm/s320/Sweets+of+Christmas.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Last but not least I made a small wallhanging just for my partner. I designed the <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5DEDg67U_IwbnBGTGoyeDFvN28/edit?usp=sharing" target="_blank">Gingerbread men</a> and the corner peppermints. The <a href="http://quiltiger.homeip.net/blocks/christmas/candycane/candycane.htm" target="_blank">Candy cane</a> is a free pattern on the internet but I adapted it to be longer than the original. The <a href="http://quiltiger.homeip.net/blocks/christmas/christmascontents.htm" target="_blank">wrapped candy</a> is also from the same source as the candy cane. The zigzag is double flying geese pattern done in three different fabrics. The finished size of this quilt is 30"x30". </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also bound this quilt differently than I normally do. I found a <a href="https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B13nE5Js5-RpUEdkelJfSHdpZ0U/edit" target="_blank">tutorial</a> on how to add piping along with the binding and it's all machine sewn. It worked like a charm, soo soo easy and great added interest. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well, that's the lot. I know my partner was supposed to open these gifts last night. I hope she will enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them. I just love the challenge of making something for someone I don't know. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
See you next year so have a Happy New Year!</div>

This is my last swap for 2013, it was a 6 months long swap. Cheryl over on <a href="http://stitchingcubbyhole.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Gone Stitchin'</a> organized it. She collected everyone's names that wanted to join and then gave out the partners. This was a straight across swap so we knew who had our name and vise versa. We then needed to make or buy 6 gifts for our partner. One gift had to be a tote or stocking and one needed to be a homemade gift for Christmas. We had each others email so we could tell our partner what we liked. Then today is the day we can open our gifts. Some are waiting for Christmas but I'm leaving right after Christmas so I opened today.<br />
<br />
This the the collection of gifts I received from my partner, Mary Pat. As you can see there are several more than 6. Oh dear, I sent 6, but in my defense all of them were made by me. She's not opening until Christmas Eve and doesn't have a blog. I'll post pictures of what I sent to her after or on Christmas Eve.<br />
<br />
I choose to have a tote that wasn't Christmas so here is that tote along with a yoyo maker, a cute little Chicken Pincushion, along with pins. There is also those great clips used when binding a quilt. I really needed those. I have one package and needed more. Now how did she know that?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This next picture is the Christmas items sent to me. Mary Pat embroidered a Christmas tree and then framed it. I'm going to really enjoy this along with the kitchen towel with the appliqued tree on it. There is also a wood tree with a small embroidered Christmas tree decoration hanging from it. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is the apple items I received. A glass apple that is gorgious, a small apple plate, and 2 apple placemats that Mary Pat made. The three bottles in the top corner are a unique vase. Can't wait to add flowers. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This picture shows the great Halloween items I received. You all know how much I love Halloween!! This is a piece of embroidered linen that I can make into any thing I want along with some great Halloween fabric. I'm already thinking about what I really want to make with this great embroidery. Look at the web in the background. It is very intricate. Check back to see what I decide what to do. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is the last picture of various gifts, a hand crocheted wash cloth, a Charm Pack and a quilt label that Mary Pat embroidered. I'm one lucky partner. I just racked in some really good quality loot. </div>
